What is the STFM Writer’s Guild?

The STFM Writer’s Guild was established to provide selected writers and publishers of children’s books an opportunity to digitize, promote and distribute their books to the increasing number consumers and readers of online children’s content.  As a member of the STFM Writer’s Guild, your selected work will be added to the exclusive STFM e-library, and made available to the STFM readers.

How will the STFM Writer’s Guild promote and market my work?

The STFM free website is fast becoming one of the largest kids websites in the world.  Our site is designed to go ’viral’, meaning that viewers are encouraged to share stories with their social network of friends on Facebook, Twitter and email.  STFM will display an e-z order button for viewers to purchase a hard copy of your book.  The button will be in a visible location while the storybook is being read.  You can set your own prices and you retain 100% of the sale price.

What are the costs and benefits of being a member of the STFM Writer’s Guild?

The cost varies upon what you need.  If your book is already animated and narrated, the price could be as low as $100.  It really depends on the formats they are created in and if they will fit into our player.  If the books need to be animated, then every double page spread costs $15.  If you prefer not to have your book animated (and to save cost) that’s fine with us.  However, from a marketing perspective we don’t recommend that since the books with animation have a much higher audience.  If you have written a book but need it illustrated, we can handle that as well.  The cost to illustrate a double page spread will range between $50-$75, depending on the complexity of the illustrations.

What type of work is the STFM Writer’s Guild looking for?

We are looking for wholesome books for ages 1 to 8 that are fun and playful, with relevant and positive moral themes.

How do I submit a piece to the STFM Writer’s Guild?

You don’t need to mail us anything; simply e-mail your work and a little about yourself to Andrew [at] storytimeforme.com.  Your work will be reviewed by the selection committee, and you can expect a response within 5 business days.  If your work is accepted, a STFM literary specialist will contact you to discuss the next steps, including styles, timelines, and payment.  After that, a complete contract will be sent to you.
