A toddler fever can be a bit scary.
Although a fever is your body’s attempt to fight off infection, it can be scary to watch as your child lies listless from fever, hour after hour.
If you’re reluctant to give your toddler large doses of fever-reducing meds, you’ll be relieved to know that there are several natural ways you can bring down your toddler’s fever
Sponging off with lukewarm water can reduce toddler fever in less than 2 minutes.
It may seem old-fashioned, but it works. Start by sponging off your child’s head. This is usually the easiest and least traumatic for your child. Then, undress one part of your toddler’s body, gently “wash” your child’s feverish body. When that limb feels cooler, cover it with a light sheet, and move on to a different part of the body.
Never uncover more body area than you need to: you want to prevent your toddler from getting cold and shivering as a result, which only raises a toddler fever more. You should finish with the stomach and back as last, since they retain a large amount of heat, and children sometimes find the coolness a bit of a shock.
Using this simple method, you should be able to relieve even the highest toddler fever.
